THE FARM
Hope Meadow Farm comprises of 53 acres of productive farmland nestled on Vermont's rich hilltops overlooking the Connecticut River Valley. A family farm operation, run by the du Plessis family, there is always something interesting happening. This is especially true in autumn when the hay is being stored in preparation for a New England snowy winter. The busiest time of the year however is April and May, when the ewes lamb on lush green spring pasture. From all over the valley can be heard the sounds of the new lambs. Visitors to the farm are welcome by appointment, after lambing season if completed.
The flock consists primarily of St. Croix sheep, which are raised for meat. The meat is sold to local restaurants, to individuals directly from the farm, and at local farmer's markets. The lambs are pasture-raised on a grass diet as nature intended. Lambs receive no grain except as incentives when the sheperds are moving them to a new pasture. They are hormone free and do not receive routine vaccinations or antibiotics. The lambs are delicately flavored, lean and tender, with fine-grained meat. Lambs are available primarily from October-January in most years, by reservation (a $50 deposit is required) on a first-come, first-served basis. Some lamb is available "out of season." Email for current availability.
Welcome to Hope Meadow Farm.
